“You therefore my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.”
Paul’s first order of business was to tell Timothy to be strong in Christ. God has called us to plant the seed of faith in someone else’s life. But Paul went on to say…
“The things which you have heard from me in the presence of many witness…”
Paul didn’t just plant seed. He taught his son in the faith how to live. Now he tells him ‒
“Entrust these things to reliable people!”
Timothy was to take the things he had learned from Paul and pass it on to the next generation. As a follower of Christ, this was his duty and calling.
“…reliable people who will be qualified to teach others.”
Multiplication is not possible as long as there’s only one person. But if Paul taught Timothy, and Timothy taught reliable people, and those people taught others… now we have multiplication. Spiritual generations. And that’s how the faith spreads.
