We’ve been talking ways you can experience church as family. We saw the importance of finding out who is in your church family, and also when you will connect with them.
A third way you can experience church as family is by finding a mentor, someone further along than you in the faith that you can learn from and be discipled by. And you don’t have to wait for them to approach you!
Did you know the first two disciples of Jesus initiated the relationship with him? He didn’t call them. They approached him and asked if they could spend time with him.
The writer of Hebrews says: “You remember your leaders, those who spoke the word of God to you. You consider the outcome of their way of life, and you imitate their faith.”
So pray about it. Look around and find an older believer whose character and faith you admire. Then take the first step of asking to spend time with them. You’ll find church at a whole new level!
