You know, about 2,000 years ago Jesus had a really ironic question for his followers: He said, Why do you call me “Lord Lord!” and don’t do what I say?
They got his title correct… Jesus is Lord! And they even recognized his authority. But they weren’t willing to do what it took to follow him.
Andrew nailed it when he said, Jesus wasn’t looking for fans but for followers. Who would answer his call to obey him? To follow him?
Jesus said “Whoever has my commands and obeys them, he is the one who loves me. And he who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love him and show myself to him.”
Jesus isn’t looking for perfection but for sincerity. So sincerely decide in your heart to not only listen to the word and deceive yourselves, but do what it says.
When it comes to following Jesus, obedience is not optional. It’s a must.
