Discussion Guides
Foundations Series is designed to be used with groups ranging in size from 2-10 people. Each episode in the series has a discussion guide that group leaders should use to maximize the learning experience.
Each discussion guide starts with the BEFORE YOU BEGIN section. This highlights the main points you want your people to understand and live from. Discussion leaders should get familiar with these before meeting with their group.
The next section of each discussion guide is called EXPLORING THE STORY and gives guidance for how leaders should run the group meeting by following the three-thirds approach:
◄ Look Back – welcome, opening prayer, and introduction
▲ Look Up – explore this week’s episode
► Look Ahead – clarify implications and application
Make sure you follow the three-thirds process. It is important because it helps people:
- Connect with each other
- Connect with the message of the Bible
- Connect the truth of the Bible to the way they think and live
In each discussion guide you will also see places where the quotation mark symbol (“) appears . These places give you a suggestion of what to say as you are leading your group. Don’t feel like you have to read these word-for-word! They are there to guide, not limit you.
